What Is the People Fund?

In 1993, we created the Tri-County People Fund, made possible by customers who allow us to "round up" their monthly energy bills to the next dollar. Over $1,000,000 has been granted to families and organizations with special needs since January 1993. Click on the subjects at left to learn more about Tri-County People Fund and Operation Round Up.

Your spare change may not buy much - unless you share it through the Tri-County People Fund and Operation Round Up. By "rounding up" your energy bill payment to the next dollar each month, you and the nearly 25,000 HomeWorks members and customers can make a big difference with small change in mid-Michigan.

Your pennies, nickels, and dimes help raise about $75,000 every year. Those dollars are used to help your neighbors, right here in your own communities. Health and rescue organizations, food banks, educational projects, child care programs, and individuals with special needs are just a few of the needs met by your Operation Round Up donations.

And every penny donated by HomeWorks members and customers is put to good use in community projects. The administrative costs to run the People Fund are small, and are paid by HomeWorks Tri-County Electric as our contribution.

Electric cooperatives across Michigan and the United States have adopted the Operation Round Up program because it gives our customers a simple way to give to their communities.
