Annual ReportFarmers in Eaton, Ingham and Jackson counties formed Tri-County Electric Cooperative 70 years ago, and our purpose is still the same: to provide reliable electric service at the lowest possible cost to families in mid-Michigan.

We are financially strong, with 46% member equity. We’re making significant long-term investments to update or replace our 70-year-old lines. These investments, along with rising costs for materials, are moving rates up slightly. However, electricity remains one of your best energy values. Electric prices are more stable and will be a good value for years to come.

Like any other business, we’ve modernized with new technologies, as you’ll learn further on in this Annual Report. When used carefully, technology can help us hold down costs, provide more information for you, and most importantly, keep your lights on. We salute the dedicated employees who work hard every day to learn new skills while bringing you the reliable electric service you need.

Member involvement is at an all-time high, with strong member attendance at our district meetings. Our district officers, who also serve as nominating committees, are active and engaged. We are seeing enthusiastic member response to energy events and other programs.

We appreciate the support received from our member-owners in 2006, and for the past 70 years.
